MODEL OF A QUOTE INTRODUCED PROPERLY AND IN THE CORRECT FORMAT:

In “The Infrastructure of Joy” by Ian Bogost, he discusses how designer Ingrid Lee brings joy—strong upbeat yet short-lived feelings—to people in public spaces through design elements like bright colors and bubbly shapes. Bogost points out Lee’s discovery which asserts, “adding design elements that seem to produce moments of joy—like color and pattern—can make people more productive and hopeful” (1).

Directions: Complete all three (3) activities below.

1)  Find a quote from the Bogost reading or any of the Happiness texts.  Introduce or lead into a quote with author + title + a little context. Write the introduction here, in #1. The quote belongs in #2 below.

2)  Then write down the quote (that you found) with the author’s last name + page number in the proper format.

 3)  Now, comment on the quote—what are certain words and phrases suggesting, why is it important.  What overall can we learn from it?
